Ceiling the Veiling (2016)

I performed Ceiling the Veiling (2016) in October 2016 as part of RAZZMATAZZ 3: Performing Borders; an exhibition curated by me at The Museum of Futures, Surbiton, London.

As part this I co-facilitated a round-table discussion on the ideas of the 'other'.

 

The narrative of Ceiling the Veiling (2016) consists of wearing my mannequin Matilda as a backpack and walking amongst the spectators from a room on the ground floor to the basement of the Museum. In the basement, I unpack the contents of my backpack and undergo a metamorphosis by wearing a veil and placing Matilda in front of my body. I then begin to sing my appropriation from behind the veil.
