How Does One Remember a Land that Bears No Identity (2021)

land that bears no identity.jpg

After two years I returned to Kingston Upon Thames, A place full of traumatic memories and cathartic encounters.

Whilst I was moored up by Kingston Bridge, I began collecting mirrors to create a site specific sculpture.

I treated Kingston as a place of Pilgrimage, a place for performing Hajj.

The mirror sculpture became an object to perform Tawaf (circling around).

Below is the documentation of an experimentation I carried one afternoon.

I also experimented with attaching my mirror sculpture to my body when I went for rowing.

The moving image below is a documentation of one of my performative rowing on my dinghy.

The voice over is from a dream I had when I was moored at Kingston Upon Thames.
